The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Going Global Relocation Guides (“Going Global”, “we”). They apply to this website and to the Going Global guide app and web edition (together, “the guide”). By using the guide you accept them. If you are using the guide through an organisation — an employer, a relocation company, a school — that organisation has its own agreement with us; these terms still apply to you as a reader.
Your licence to read
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to read the guide, on your own devices, for your own and your family’s use in planning and living an assignment. The licence is yours alone: one person, one account. It does not give you any right in the guide’s content beyond reading it.
Access provided by an organisation
Where an organisation provides your access, it does so under a licence that assigns a named seat to you. A seat may not be shared, lent or pooled. The organisation may end your seat when your relationship with it ends; you may ask us to delete your account at any time regardless.
What you may not do
- Copy, extract, scrape, download, print, photograph or otherwise reproduce the guide’s articles, listings or data, other than the in-app offline packages on your own device for your own reading.
- Share your sign-in codes or let anyone else use your account.
- Use the guide, or any part of it, to build or feed another publication, database, product, or model.
- Circumvent sign-in, the offline packaging, or any other technical control.
- Present yourself as Going Global, or present the guide as your own work.
Content that reaches the guide from you — a report of a wrong listing, a question to the assistant, an inquiry to a venue — must be honest and lawful. We do not publish reader contributions; what you send us is used to check and correct the guide.
What the guide is, and is not
The guide is information, not advice. It is written to help a family make its own decisions. Its facts are verified for each edition and carry their verification dates; laws, prices, hours and rules change, and a fact can be right when we checked it and wrong when you read it. Decisions about your own visa, tax, health, insurance, schooling or legal position belong with a qualified professional and the current official sources, and nothing in the guide is a substitute for them.
We hold the guide’s listings to a stated verification standard, described in The standard, and we correct what we are told is wrong. We do not promise that every fact is current at the moment you read it, and we exclude any warranty to that effect to the extent the law allows.
The English edition is the edition of record. Where a translation and the English text differ, the English governs.
Advertising in the guide
The guide is free because it carries advertising. Advertising never changes what is in the guide: no advertiser can buy inclusion, a better position, or a softer description, and the Education section carries no paid placement of any kind. Paid space is marked so that you can see it is paid. A sponsored article is marked, above its title, as provided by the named advertiser.
Third-party content and services
Some videos in the guide are hosted by YouTube and play through YouTube’s player when you choose to play them; YouTube’s terms apply to them, and YouTube may show its own advertising within its player. Maps and directions open in your device’s own maps application under that application’s terms. Links to schools and venues take you to their websites, which we do not control.
Ownership
The guide — its text, structure, listings, verification data, design, software and marks — belongs to Going Global Relocation Guides or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any of it to you or to any organisation that provides your access.
Privacy
How we handle personal data is set out in the Privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
Our responsibility to you
We provide the guide with care, and we stand behind the standard we publish. We are not liable for loss that results from a decision you take on the basis of information in the guide, from a fact that changed after we verified it, from third-party content or services, or from your inability to use the guide. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by the law where you live, or any right you have as a consumer under that law.
Ending your access
You can stop using the guide, and delete your account, at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms. Where an organisation provided your access, its licence governs when your seat ends. Continuity of access for students in an education deployment is protected separately in our agreements with schools and is never withdrawn mid-term because of a commercial dispute.
Changes
We may revise these terms. When we do, we change the version and the date at the top, and we tell signed-in readers in the app before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the guide after that date is acceptance of the revised terms.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the place where the publisher is established, as identified in the Legal notice, without prejudice to any mandatory protection you have under the law where you live. We would rather resolve any dispute by talking first: write to legal@goingglobalguides.com.
